Denmark Don’t Give a F#@k

The new video from Crown Nation member Denmark Vessey is a no-nonsense snippet of the quality that is coming out of Detroit right now, it almost looks too easy. Terminator 2 arcade game meets the neighborhood stoop shot is a classic recipe that DV effortlessly uses to display another Vessey produced banger. Crown Nation has been on our radar for a minute now, but I must admit I am pleasantly surprised that Denmark’s activity has been in overdrive as of late, even with his partner Quelle moving to California. Between the two of them they are inundating your walls/feeds with that next shit. Speaking of which, Quelle also put a video out today, mind you I’m still figuring out what exactly “The Gator Tapes” are, peep that here.

Drankenstein Says “App”ly yourself!

Everyone has a Twitter account, thousands of “followers” and a Facebook account that has more spam than a Hawaiian lunch buffet. Remember when being on a new social network guranteed you some level of exposure, whether it be Reverb Nation, Soundcloud, Bandcamp, or countless others, if you played, you won a little. Those times are long gone, which is why I was so intrigued by Young Money rapper Short Dawg’s most recent attempt at exposing himself, creating a video game application for Google Play and the Apple Store; Drankenstein!

The game is described as the following:

Join Short Dawg as he blasts through the crowded streets of Houston, capping gangsters and collecting his favorite purple beverage to transform into the invincible Drankenstein, smashing through cars with a rocket launcher and earning bonus cash! How fresh is your ride?

Yes, I know, it’s the worst application in the history of gaming applications, however, you do get to enjoy his soundtrack (if you like your money Young) during game play, and here’s the music sharing kicker, new tracks are downloaded right to your phone as you play. It ain’t rocket science, but it is music business science.

Still, you must like the music…

Go to Midnight Club in South Central to listen to Techno Rap

Kali the Juice County MVP

Kali the Juice County MVP

In my cherry popping post I discussed the prospects of success for G-Unit and specifically 40 Glocc. In that article I predicted a big year for L.A. rappers. I believe my words were”L.A. is back bitch!” In line with this thinking San Diego based Rockstar Games has just released their newest version of Midnight Club, this time in the City of Angels. With features that include a “South Central” content pack, there is little doubt that this game will entertain the crestfallen masses. As far as the game is concerned you can peep the trailer and the details (below). In what is a bit of a bonus is the tapping of Orange based rapper Kali for the feature track on the games soundtrack. Kali is a member of the Juice County All Stars, you can check their content at the bottom of the post. Kali claims to have put his “hardcore rapper” persona aside as he has expanded and developed a sound he has dubbed “tecnorap.” Nothing too complex about “techno rap”, think Alice Deejay meets The Game. A unique advantage to this type of sound is its crossover appeal with gaming and film, an appeal that Kali and the J.C.A. are going to count on as revenue tributaries are drying up. Crossover collabos between gaming and hip hop have been successful. Frankly I’m ecstatic that gaming is branching out a little, embracing the street a little more. I couldn’t deal with another EA Games soundtrack riddled with Phil da Agony. Nothing but Cali love for Kali and Rockstar.
