El-P Stay’s Down

How often do you see a big budget video for the second to last track on an album? This track is off the Cancer 4 Cure album and features vocals from British Columbia native Nick Thorburn aka Nick Diamonds. Having gone to high school on Vancouver Island, I have been familiar with his work for a while. What’s interesting to note is that Jaleel Bunton of TV On The Radio acclaim plays Nick in this video. I know for a fact that Nick Diamonds has accompanied El-P on this tour, a little bewildering why he’d be substituted by another musician in the video. I’m thinking aesthetics? Check out the pics below, was this simply about looks? Perhaps the boy from Campbell River wasn’t “urban” enough? Either way, I love this buried track, and they got good bang out of their buck for this video.
